Keke's Snow Balls Employee Handbook
Welcome to the team at Keke’s Snow Balls! We’re so excited to have you on board. This handbook outlines our expectations to ensure every shift runs smoothly and our customers have the best possible experience. Please read carefully and ask management if you have any questions.
1. Attendance & Punctuality
All employees are expected to arrive on time and be fully ready to work by the start of their scheduled shift.
Repeated tardiness or absences may lead to disciplinary action, including termination.
If you are unable to work your scheduled shift, it is your responsibility to find another team member to cover it and inform management immediately.
Failure to find coverage will result in an immediate write-up and/or possible termination.
Each employee is limited to three sick days per calendar year, and a valid doctor’s note is required for each.
Excessive absences or pattern-based sick days will be reviewed by management.
2. Restroom Use
You do not need to ask for permission to use the restroom, but please do so quickly and responsibly.
Only one employee should be away from the stand at a time, unless otherwise approved by a manager.
3. Dress Code
Dress appropriately and modestly for each shift. No tank tops, short shorts, or offensive graphics.
Shoes must be closed-toed and appropriate for a food service environment.
Hair must be clean and tied back if long.
Hats or visors may be required depending on shift and sanitary guidelines.
4. Team Responsibilities
Whether you’re a team lead or crew member, everyone is responsible for completing opening and closing checklists.
Every employee working a shift will be held accountable for ensuring these tasks are done properly.
All employees must check and clean the outdoor area of the property once every hour to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Trash must be disposed of properly and not left out in or around the stand.
5. Cleanliness & Food Safety
If you notice something dirty or out of place, clean it immediately. Never leave messes for someone else to handle.
Report any health concerns (e.g. mold in sugar water, pests, unsanitary tools) to management immediately.
All employees must maintain an active food handler’s license, which can be obtained online.
Follow all state and local health regulations. Any failure to comply can lead to disciplinary action.
6. Workplace Behavior & Communication
Speak directly with management for any comments, concerns, or suggestions.
Gossip, drama, and conflict will not be tolerated. If you are found to be instigating or engaging in disruptive behavior, you may be terminated.
Treat fellow team members with kindness and respect at all times.
Cell phone use is strictly limited to breaks unless otherwise approved by management.
7. Customer Experience
Greet every customer with a warm smile and friendly attitude.
Offer all available options, such as adding ice cream to the bottom of snowballs, condensed milk toppings, and other current specials.
Every employee must ask each customer to sign up for our rewards program.
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude throughout the shift.
If there is ever a customer complaint or issue, notify management immediately. Do not argue or try to resolve conflicts alone unless clearly trained to do so.
8. Schedule Management
Submit your weekly availability on time through the appropriate scheduling platform or directly to the manager.
If you fail to show up for a shift due to a scheduling mistake and cannot get it covered, it will result in an immediate write-up and/or possible termination.
If you need time off, please submit your request at least one week in advance.
9. Management Rights & Policies
Management reserves the right to change schedules, responsibilities, or policies as needed.
Employment is at-will, and management may terminate employment at any time if actions are found to jeopardize the health, safety, culture, or reputation of the business.
10. Breaks & Meals
Breaks will be assigned depending on the length of your shift. Employees working 6+ hour shifts may take one 30-minute unpaid break.
Please do not eat during your active shift unless approved.
Drinks are allowed, but must be kept in designated areas.
11. Payroll & Compensation
Employees are paid biweekly. Timesheets must be accurately logged.
Any discrepancies in hours or pay must be reported to management immediately.
Bonuses or incentives may be offered at management's discretion.
12. Emergency Protocols
In case of emergency (e.g. fire, injury, extreme weather), follow instructions from management immediately.
If an employee is injured on the job, notify a manager right away and file an incident report.
